Things to do in the area

Allt Beag Cottage is ideally situated for touring all of the Isle of Skye and the nearby mainland.

Cross the Skye bridge to visit Eilean Donan Castle, Lochalsh Woodland Gardens and the village of Plockton on the beautiful Applecross peninsula.

To the south of Skye is the lovely Sleat peninsula and the castle and gardens at Armadale. Go west to Elgol for spectacular boat trips and views of the majestic Cuillin mountains. Explore to the north, and find the Old Man of Storr, the rocks of the Quiraing and Trotternish peninsula, the coral beaches at Claigan, the lighthouse at Neist Point, and the world famous Dunvegan Castle.

As you travel, pause to browse in some of the many craft studios and art galleries that you will find all over the island, and always keep a look out for the wildlife - you may spot red deer, otters and golden eagles almost anywhere on Skye.

Shopping and eating

In Broadford (3 miles) there is a supermarket and 24-hour petrol station as well as a post office, art and craft outlets and variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. There is further choice of shops, and places to eat and drink in Portree (23 miles).
